eHarmony Loves Gays...Really...They Really do...Really...

Dr. Neil Clark Warren... psychologist, conservative christian and noted co-founder of eHarmony, recently said in an interview with Yahoo.com...  "I have said that eHarmony really ought to put up $10 million and ask other companies to put up money and do a really first class job of figuring out homosexuality"...he also noted. "At the very best, it's been a painful way for a lot of people to have to live..."

This phrase, 'figuring out homosexuality' really reeks of  willful  misunderstanding and a deep seated hatred that goes to the heart of an issue which Dr. Warren admitted has damaged his dating business. The issue is these people who are so damaged by their own vehement hatred for gay people that they think gays people are themselves defective.

The fact that they think there is something to 'fix' means they think there is something broken, something sinful, something evil that must be eradicated, lest they fail in their religious right, to exorcise... or failing that, ostracize those wretched souls from the circle of the 'saved'...  those approaching heaven's gates.

He is correct in thinking that the amount of pain that those like-minded, hating groups [who think as he does,]  inflict on gay people make it overwhelmingly painful for some to carry on...this apparently does not cause him enough concern to try to see the other side of the coin. Instead, he insists that there is something defective about gay people that he needs to throw 10 million dollars at, to fix.

" It has really damaged our company and when the attorney general of the state of New Jersey decided that we had to put up a same-sex site and we did it out of counsel that if we didn't do it we were not going to have any business in New Jersey -- we literally had to hire guards to protect our lives because the people were so hurt and angry with us, were Christian people, who feel that it's a violation to scripture. " he said.

I for one am happy to see that his hatred and disdain for gay people has damaged his ability to make more of that most evil of things...money. In his interview, he admitted in my opinion, that he was forced [against his religious principles of hating/needing to fix gay people,] to start another dating site oriented to gay partners. 

For a man who admits that he loves to gamble, apparently making that money in New Jersey is too delicious to pass up. He obviously did not start that other dating site without the threat of being shut out of the New Jersey market, making this a clear cut case as to where his loyalties lie... and money seems to come out ahead of compassion, or the willingness to truly understand human nature and the fact that being born gay is not something that religion can 'fix' later in one's life.

eHarmony has had to answer to multiple legal suits for their foolish point of view as documented here and with that heinous belief ; of the defectiveness of gay people, I am sure they will have some more to contend with in the future. Warren described himself as a follower of Jesus but I think he has not asked himself 'What would Jesus do'... I'm sure the answer will surprise and disgust him.

His 'love them enough to fix them' routine is old...and not working for me...

Minimum Wage Of $10, Tied To Cost Of Living... A Republican's Nightmare...

President Obama's call for raising the minimum wage in his SOTU address is a well placed and spirited continuation to a long process that was started quite a while ago and ardently fought for by Christine L Owens of the non-partisan, not-for-profit organization NELP [ National Employment Law Project]

The POTUS has said in his address that he is in favor of a raise of the hourly rate to $9, which is already creating an uproar in Republican circles as anything geared to build the middle class does. This increase is in keeping with the idea that the minimum rate should be tied to some indexing rate increase. NELP believes the rate should be at least $10.

The POTUS's views mirror those of past presidential rival Mitt Romney who said in Jan 2012..."My view has been to allow the minimum wage to rise with the CPI [Consumer Price Index] or with another index so that it adjusts automatically over time…."

NELP put out a press release that read in part..."The president said he was putting jobs and the economy front and center tonight – and that's exactly what he did by calling for a minimum wage increase,” said Christine L. Owens, executive director of the National Employment Law Project. 
“President Obama's remarks tonight show he understands that a 
higher minimum wage is key to getting the economy back on track for working people and the middle 
class. The President's remarks also cement the growing consensus on the left and right that one of the 
best ways to get the economy going again is to put money in the pockets of people who work, who will spend it at small businesses in their communities. A minimum wage increase will stimulate consumer demand and help drive economic growth for the people who most need it in America – workers."

A 2012 survey by independent source Lake Resource Partners, showed this result..."A proposal to raise the federal minimum wage garners striking support, in terms of both breadth and intensity. Nearly three-quarters of likely voters support increasing the minimum wage to $10 and indexing it to inflation (73% support, 20% oppose) in 2014, including a solid 58% majority who feels that way strongly.... Stratospheric and intense support among Democrats (91% support overall and 79% strong support, 5% oppose) and independents (74% support overall and 55% strong support, 18% oppose) is complemented by robust support from    Republicans (50% support, 41% oppose) as
well."

Republicans intent on destroying any chance of an American recovery have already been saying that any raise in the minimum wage will make it harder for and raise operating costs of business. This is an old and tired claim that was disproved when it was first made, when child labor laws were enacted earlier in the last century. 

This claim was also disproved when it was made against women who were being allowed [as if they needed men's permission]  to come out of their home kitchens and join the work force alongside working men.

It is widely known that when businesses raise the rates of employees, the free market will facilitate the raising of rates by other employers, causing consumers to have more disposable income to spend in the same businesses.

In 1968 the minimum wage was comparatively valued at $10.59.  There are more than 3.8 million workers that are at or below the minimum wage, and the increase will put at least 22 Billion dollars into the American GDP... this is something the Republicans will fight tooth and nail to prevent.

The Republican answer is to cut programs that help feed and protect Americans like Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and install crippling austerity measures which they have seen leading to crashes in countries where this is done.

Republicans seem oblivious to the fact that their fight for lower taxes does not affect the unemployed who first need jobs...and good paying jobs at that. There are 19 states that have already raised rates above the Federal level. The POTUS's call to index wages to the rising cost of living has already been adopted by 10 states.

Someone should tell the Republicans that their attempts to sabotage America's economic recovery will not be tolerated. Part of me wants the Republicans to succeed as this will seal their fate and spell their doom in any election in the future.

Wacky Wepublicans' Weekly Weview, Week 4 2013...(Kill The Wabbit)...

So, who's the wabbit this week? 

Well, Fox News gave Sarah Palin the boot confirming to most that which we all knew...those grapes are indeed sour. Fox is reported to have paid 1 million dollars per year for the sour grapes which apparently did not bring the return expected and it is my speculation that said sour grapes will soon be seen testing the waters of Glenn Beck... more on that soon, I'm sure. 

To the surprise of many, Gov. Bobby Jindal confirmed what most on the right have fought to keep secret...that the republican party is the party of stupid. This is the quote..." We must stop being the stupid party. It’s time for a new Republican party that talks like adults. It’s time for us to articulate our plans and visions for America in real terms. We had a number of Republicans damage the brand this year with offensive and bizarre comments... but then he lost his brief window of sanity and he suggested that the party should not 'moderate, equivocate or otherwise change our principles" on issues such as abortion, gay marriage 'government growth' and 'higher taxes...' It was good for a few seconds there...tsk tsk...

Reince Priebus has done what most do not want to do, he got himself elected for a second time to be the Chairman of the Republican National Committee, proving once again that the rightwingers have their heads screwed on wrong. 'Rinse Pubus' has to be one of the worst Chairmen I have seen in recent times and he is still definitely seated at the back of the bus when it comes to having his finger on the pulse of the country. 

"Two years ago, we found a broken organization at the RNC but we accomplished the goals we set for ourselves. Our debt: we overcame it. Our committee: we rebuilt it. Our reputation: we saved it. And in the presidential race, no RNC has ever been a more supportive partner to a nominee than we were..." Rinse said, thereby proving my point that he did the RNC no favors and is clueless. Two years ago when he took the RNC reigns, they were about 24 million dollars in debt, they now have only 3 million dollars in the bank despite having many Billionaires in their camp...a true testament to the distrust many have regarding his abilities to guide the camp, raise funds and win elections.

Glenn Beck wants to build his own city... walled off from America, with all the freedoms of nothing...everything will be plain, planned on patterns and as putrid as you would think it would be...who knew...

Wacky Wepublicans' Weekly Weview, Week 3 2013...(Kill The Wabbit)...

So, who are the Wacky Wepublicans trying to kill with their way-out policies this week? Well, it looks like the little ones in K-12, Law enforcement and the US Military are in their sights this week, with the Wacky gun lobbyists all over the news telling us not to ban this gun or that ammo clip because the 'kids' won't be protected by regulations anyway and the 2nd amendment says so.

The Wepublicans argue that a psychotic killer will steal a gun as the Newtown shooter did and will shoot up the school Cinema or Mall regardless of if we put a ban on military styled weapons or their extended magazines. Well I for one do not believe we should have military styled weapons in the public arena. 

The big boys at the NRA say these military type guns with extended mags are used for hunting and target practice. There are a few Wacky things to consider here, first is the need to have another twenty bullets to shoot at that darned deer after you had missed him with the first thirty shots.

Second is the fact that you need extended magazines for target practice and competition because it takes so long to reload a magazine with ten or seven bullets. I am sure the target is not a sprinting and jumping Gazelle so I do not see the need for rapid fire shooting at a stationary target. What does the shooter not get about the target being stationary?

Thirdly, I was made aware that with the Geneva Convention in mind, military weaponry is not made to kill the target, but is made to only wound them. A round is made to enter the target with a dime-sized hole and exit the target with that same dime sized hole, merely wounding the enemy and thereby incapacitating them. The bullets domestically used in the US would enter the target with a dime-sized hole and exit the target with a baseball sized hole, in other words it is meant to kill.

Fourth is the fact that the 2nd amendment states that there must be a well regulated militia, so obviously trying to have some regulation was foreseen by the writers of said amendment. It is argued that it was not the intention of the writers to have the militia only armed with muskets and therefore any weapon, including Rocket Launchers would be acceptable. 

Fifth, is the delusion that having military styled guns would be an effective tool used against a government force that includes war trained soldiers with their tanks, Black Hawk Helicopters and other new microwave weapons which could decimate a crowd from blocks away with  targeted microwave heat that makes your blood boil. I have seen this weapon tested and it is extremely effective.

Sixth is the fact that anyone taking up arms against the government is guilty of Treason and should be handled as such. The 2nd amendment was written for the militia to be armed against a slave uprising, and their job was to have weekly or monthly inspections of slave quarters to ensure that the slaves were not amassing weapons...as the local militia are now doing.

Republicans Still Show No Concern For The Poor.

After watching CNN's State of the Union with Candy Crowley, I came away feeling that I have to write an obituary for America! Candy's guests were quite succinct and more than convicted in their veiled disgust and nonchalant lack of concern for the poor of America. They keep bandying about words like 'entitlements, Spending cuts and deficit reduction' without batting an eye, as to the destruction to the poor that they are proposing.

First of Candy's guests was outgoing senator Olympia Snow. She was all too eager to project that republicans really care and want to keep tax rates from going up on anyone, but insists that any fiscal cliff deal has to include some plan for reducing entitlements. That would be all well and good except it's obvious she thinks Americans are too stupid to realize that entitlement cuts really mean cutting programs for the poor that they need to live, feed their kids and stay healthy.

Next up was CNN Correspondent Dana Bash who reported something really shocking. She said that Republicans refused to go along with Democrat's suggestion, that some of the extra income that will be raised with the new tax rates can be used to pay down the debt. Republicans insisted that debt reduction must be done instead by entitlement cuts thereby ensuring that any pain and suffering to pay down the debt and curb spending is placed squarely on the bleeding backs of America's poor. 

Next up was Senator for Wyoming John Barrasso who commented that infrastructure spending was off the negotiation table as it is just another way of running up the debt, suggesting that we should first grow the economy... by following the Republicans' mantra of cutting spending by entitlement reforms. Notice how republicans say that having infrastructure programs is 'spending' on infrastructure, instead of it being 'investing' in those programs and creating jobs which will grow the economy...something that was done after WWII. 

Of course when a major bridge falls in their area or they are stricken in some way by natural disasters they do not say that their pleas for help requires government spending, instead they are quite happy to praise the same departments that they are still trying to do away with, FEMA is just one such example.

They are wordsmiths of the highest order, 'entitlement reforms' simply mean cutting programs to the poor in order to scrape off massive profits for the rich in the form of lowering taxes and keeping them low, regardless of how much pain and suffering they cause to the bottom 98% of Americans, half of whom are poor republicans who need these programs to live and feed their families.

The Fiscal Cliff  and Debt Ceiling talks have one thing in common, the willingness by the Republicans to do everything they can to bring pain and suffering to America's poor and needy, who just want to live. 

Republicans maintain that there is no leadership from the President, by which they mean the President should fold to their demands to inflict pain onto the poor, and lead the rest of the Democrats kicking and screaming towards the Republican's evil way of thinking.

Don't Ban Guns Or Large Capacity Clips, Just Insure Them

The biggest obstruction to sensible laws against gun violence and other gun related concerns is the Military Industrial Complex and their lobbyists who effectively tie the hands of politicians who are indebted to them.

So my simple solution is to make it law that guns are to be annually insured against the risk or danger they present. I suspect there will be a drop in gun ownership by an estimated 60% within the first month as the majority of owners will not be willing to pay insurance fees for excess armaments, keeping only the minimum necessary. There will be very little stockpiling of weapons.

I myself see the need for Food, Guns, Viruses and Medicines which right now, are mostly toxic in nature, but do serve a good purpose. They all have their place in a growing Global society.

No one's rights to keep or bear arms will be affected as the weapons will not be banned or restricted, but will simply be charged an appropriate fee for the different levels of risk they present to human beings, as determined by the insurance company, with no government input or restriction.

The insurance cost of guns and bullets will be on a sliding scale which will be solely decided by the Insurance companies thereby keeping with the Republican mantra of letting the Capitalistic 'free markets' control where the market will go. There will be no government involvement when it comes to how high a fee the insurance industry will charge against the risk the various weapons and their bullets or extended gun clips present.

A company can charge from 10% to 100% of the cost of the weapon as an annual fee and the same scale can be applied for the cost of each bullet in any sized clip, resulting in higher annual fees for larger clips or automatic and semi automatic weapons than older less efficient guns and bullets.

In effect, a six bullet .38 special will cost far less to insure than a newer model gun that carries 10 bullets or more. Each bullet can cost up to 100% of its purchase price to annually insure it. The same applies to each gun, resulting in an immediate drop in the hoarding of guns or bullets.

More specialized guns and bullets would be charged whatever fees the insurance deems necessary, so 'hollow point' or other special bullets would be more expensive to annually insure than regular non specialized ammunition. 

The insurance companies will be allowed to charge fees for home insurance where the guns and bullets would be housed, including commercial buildings. Fees would also be allowed for vehicles that will house or transport guns and ammo. 

Added to this insurance requirement, there will be 'Buy-Back' programs at all police stations, just as is done at present, in order for owners to get rid of excess equipment. 

Whatever health requirements and registration  requirements the insurance companies deem necessary will be as the insurance company sees fit. This one first step will be enough to curb most of our gun concerns, after which we can address any unforeseen problems with the remaining guns.

While Republicans Were Fighting Against An Alleged "Muslim Agenda"

According to many including myself, the Citizens United decision famously made by SCOTUS was an opening door through which foreign countries and companies could now pump anonymous monies into American politics and elections, and thereby sway election results and indeed the elected. 

There has been recent articles released that support claims that foreign monies did in fact  take anonymous root in US politics. Saudi Arabia is just one of many possible countries and donors who, it has come to light, has spent millions of dollars to run negative ads against the Democrats in an effort to change the 2012 Presidential election results in a way that would be advantageous to themselves. 

The nation.com... "The “American” in American Petroleum Institute, the country’s largest oil lobby group, is a misnomer. As I reported for The Nation in August, the group has changed over the years, and is now led by men like Tofiq Al-Gabsani, a Saudi Arabian national who heads a Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Aramco) subsidiary, the state-run oil company that also helps finance the American Petroleum Institute. Al-Gabsani is also a registered foreign agent for the Saudi government.

New disclosures retrieved today, showing some of API’s spending over the course of last year, reveal that API used its membership dues (from the world’s largest oil companies like Chevron and Aramco) to finance several dark money groups airing attack ads in the most recent election cycle. The disclosures also show that in 2011, API spent over $68 million for public relations/advertising with the firm Edelman, $5.4 million on “coalition building” with the firm Advocates Inc, and $4 million with DDC Advocacy for “advocacy.” DDC is the firm led by Sara Fagen, the former Bush White House aide ensnared in the DOJ purges scandal. DDC now works with corporations to help them communicate with workers on how to vote."

This foreign interference in our elections is disturbing but it is not the whole of my concern...there is more. According to the most asinine Republican claims, there is a hidden Muslim agenda to install Sharia law in the halls of American policy institutions and courts around the US. This fire of hatred for another religion that is not of the Christian persuasion, is fueled regularly by the likes of 'conservative' radio and TV hosts, most notably Sean Hannity. Someone should tell Sean that one major shareholder in Fox News' parent company is a muslim Prince who offered then NY Mayor Guiliani 10 million dollars after 9/11!!

For the past two years, while gearing up for the 2012 Presidential elections, republicans have been all but lost on exactly who was paying for their hateful and vehement message against Muslims, to be carried on advertisements on radio and TV. It is shameful to see that the republicans in their haste to hate Muslims, do not see that those said Muslims are the ones who are using the republicans as mindless pawns to elect politicians on the right who will forward whatever agenda those foreign donors wish.

It is not obvious to me what agenda is being put forth by any foreign donors, but it is apparent that the republican party and its supporters will blindly go to the highest bidder, regardless of who they are; this certainly opens the door for Iran, North Korea and even China to buy the republican party's favor and condemn America to the wishes of foreign powers. This borders on Treason.
